Interjet airline resumes flights from Mexico to Puerto Rico after 13 years
By El Nuevo Dia | 5/17/2013, @8:12:27 AM
After 13 years of absence the Mexican Airline Interjet will resume flights from Mexico City to Luis Muoz Marn International Airport, the Mexico-based company said on a press conference held this week in San Juan, Puerto Rico.
The initiative comes as a breath of refreshing news after a series of blows to the Puerto Rican government, in part due to the people's discontent on the 40-year public-private agreement of the Luis Munoz Marn International Airport.
The first from and to Mexico City from San Juan is part of an initial initiative that consists of a series of charter flights that will last into mid 2013 with the hopes of establishing an official commercial route between the countries by the end of this year.
Aerostar Holdings, the private company that won last year the privatization agreement of the LMM airport has said that a total of 10 charter flights have been scheduled as part of the inaugural campaign, with a total of 1,500 packages that will be sold that can carry around 150 passengers each, with a cost that will fluctuate between $700 to $800.
