Location Description from Publisher

"Cueva Ventana (English: "Cave Window") is a large cave situated a top a limestone cliff in Arecibo, Puerto Rico, overlooking the Río Grande de Arecibo valley. It is visible from the PR-123 but is accessible from a trail that begins adjacent to a Puma gas station located along PR-10 on kilometer 75. The cave and surrounding land are owned privately. The cave is a popular tourist attraction to Puerto Ricans as well as tourists visiting from outside Puerto Rico. An initial admittance fee of $3, was established by the owner of the gas station to enter the trail to the cave on Saturdays and Sundays due to its popularity. The number of visitors is at its most popular on both Saturdays and Sundays from early morning to an hour before nightfall. As of January 2013, the admittance fee was established daily and raised to $5 in February 2013. A boardwalk project was constructed from the gas station leading up to around 200 feet into the trail. Soon after a rise in popularity and visits, admission was raised to $10 with necessary equipment included (helmet, flashlight, a booklet on the legend of Cueva Ventana) and a guided 45-minute tour. The number of visitors is greatest on both Saturdays and Sundays from early morning to an hour before nightfall. Nightly tours are now offered on Wednesdays and Thursdays. The tour begins with a small trail showing little caves on the side. You enter the main cave where you receive your flashlight. You follow a path in the cave leading to the "Ventana" or "Window" which is a large outlook to the countryside.
